Today, June 1st, 2016, Pizza Hut announced that by the end of March 2017 it will no longer use chicken raised on antibiotics important to human medicine for its pizzas. Pizza Hut’s parent company, Yum! Brands, includes Taco Bell, which made a similar antibiotics commitment in April, and KFC, which has not made a strong antibiotics policy. The recent discovery of a new antibiotic resistant superbug in the U.S. reinforces the urgency of marketplace actions to stop the overuse of antibiotics in the meat industry. KFC should follow the lead of its partner brands and commit to stop serving chicken raised on our life-saving medicines.

We applaud Pizza Hut’s commitment to protect our life-saving antibiotics, and urgeits partner brand KFC to follow suit.
